I am an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management (OB/HRM) in the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. I received my PhD in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology at the University of Calgary in 2022.
My research primarily focuses on personnel selection; in particular, how to design interviews to make accurate judgments and predictions about job applicants. I also study the causes and effects of first impressions in the interview, and judgmental biases in the interview.
My second area of research focuses on the various forms of job performance and social behaviors at work. This includes, for example, the reasons that some people choose to help coworkers or take the initiative to perform extra work tasks. It also includes team/coworker communication behaviors.
Outlets publishing my work include the Journal of Business and Psychology, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, Journal of Personnel Psychology, Personnel Assessment and Decisions, Journal of Safety Research, Canadian Journal of Behavioural Science, and Learning and Individual Differences. I have also presented my work internationally at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the European Association for Work and Organizational Psychology conferences, and within my own community at the Calgary Comic Expo and Calgary Nerd Nite.
